The Yo-Yo Museum describes the X Games model as a hybrid between a butterfly and an imperial shape with an ABEC-3 bearing. It came with a miniature skateboard with grip tape, removable wheels, metal trucks, tools and spare wheels, and was considered Variflex’s top-of-the-line model (collected September 1999).
Steve Brown says he developed the Hybrid Bomb shape for Team Losi, which was passed to Variflex for the X-Games yo-yo (Yo-Yo Museum Team Losi profile). The YoYo Wiki notes it was half-way between modified and butterfly shapes.
