History / About
Pop Loop (POPLOOP) is YOYOMAKER’s first looping yo-yo and is notable for its 80 mm diameter, whereas typical looping yo-yos are under 60 mm. It originated when off-string player and Samurai Rock Orchestra performer Tsubasa Onishi, 2004 and 2010 4A world champion, asked whether a large looping yo-yo could be made to stand out on big stages.
After many prototypes the body was balanced for light weight and rigidity, given a very slight round profile, a large-diameter C-size bearing and a fine starburst printed by resin (stereolithography) and built in. Weight is an average of about 50 g, so the feel is closer to a normal looping yo-yo than the size suggests. The maker says it feels quite different from regular loopers and does not recommend it to competition players with an established style. A thicker K string is recommended; the yo-yo ships with a normal K string and a shim for gap adjustment. Print data is available via QR code; polycarbonate or PETG can be used for a stiffer body.
