History / About
The Hurricane was Yicheng Luo’s first yo-yo design. Compared with other 1A yo-yos of its time it had a wider, lighter body for fast play, with a 45 mm width and very sharp profile. The high-camber butterfly shape reduces string contact and gives long sleeps in horizontal tricks. The hubs are pointed so a player can hold them for matador-style tricks. Cap lips were available to customize the caps, and large rubber O-rings could add weight at the cost of the thumb grind function.
The first and only run had a machining mistake that destabilized the bearing in some units. The production date, Get-Yo website address and the character for wind are engraved along with a serial number. About 90 pieces were made, some damaged in transport, and 50 were sold, mostly in mainland China. In 2015 Luo released the L1 Hurricane Retro as a modernized version.
