Aroundsquare is well know for a lot of skill toys: begleri, deadeyes, knucklebones, chetki, and more. They’ve never done a yo-yo, until now.
The Not Machine is their first of hopefully many throw offerings. It’s a wooden fixed-axle yoyo made from either maple or purpleheart. Both have a birch axle, and a copper “Aroundsquare” plaquette on the middle of each half. Small, light, and gently finished by just sanding the wood, Not Machine is a classic-feeling yo-yo that’s very satisfying to play.
There’s no response, so players will need to tune the throw to their liking with string choice, and how many times they want to loop it on the axle. The yo-yo feels a bit slippy until you get it just right. Once you do, it’s a fun little throw that’s quite capable of just about any 0a trick you can throw at it.
