Dis Yoyos | Obscura (PC Rim) | SS-tie

Dis Yoyos | Obscura (PC Rim) | SS-tie

This is a review of the PC version of the obscura, not the Pom version.

Dude, this yoyo rips. Genuinely. I watched Dis pretty distantly through their first two releases; didn’t love the Sibyl or the Anima, neither were my thing. I liked how both felt, but I felt like they made compromises for that playfeel. Other people loved them, but they weren’t for me.

Now this? This thing rips. Tried it for the first time at a meet in Eugene and knew I’d have to track one down. It just is incredible. Seeing as it takes design elements from some great yoyos, it tracks. When you look at the profile, you can see the inspiration Remy got from the Kagerou; you can see what he was going for. Remy used the Kagerou to get into finals at Worlds, and he iterated on the Kagerou in a way that, imo, makes the Obscura better, which is saying a lot, because the Kagerou is already an incredible yo-yo.

The Obscura is just as good as the Kagerou in all the important ways, but differs in ways that just make it feel better. You still have that insane reliability and control of the Kagerou, but you lose some of the rimweighted sluggishness sensation. Added benefit of a hair of extra width. This thing has a ton of control, plays super, super pleasantly, and feels incredible on the end of the string, all while not making any concessions for performance.

It’s a beast that plays just as good as it feels. Would love to try the pom version, and I’ll be looking forward to more releases from Dis.
My only reservation is the sturdiness of the yo-yo. This sort of build has shown to have long-term issues.
