The Death Robot Mg is the world’s first magnesium and dual stainless-steel bi-metal yo-yo, announced April 7, 2016. Kyle Weems chose AZ31B magnesium for the body — aluminum-comparable strength at roughly two-thirds the weight — and 304 stainless steel for the dual rings, thermally fit at approximately 650°F. A ceramic coating protects the magnesium from oxidation while providing a smooth yet textured surface feel. Called “the culmination of over 15 years of yo-yo design experience,” it was Kyo’s first new production model in over five years at the time of release.
