About
The Duncan Imperial debuted in 1954 and is the oldest Duncan model still in production today. The chevron-branded version (1954–1962) was selected by Franklin Mint as one of three yo-yos for their 1994 collector’s reproduction series.
The reproduction is made from standard plastic rather than the original’s tenite (an early cellulose acetate plastic), and includes a small clear jewel embedded in one body half — a detail absent from originals. The “Imperial” text on the label is slightly off-center compared to originals. Like all three Franklin Mint Duncan reproductions, it comes with a gold-finished metal display stand. The Imperial is the only plastic-body yo-yo of the three-piece set.
