24K Whips
24K Whips is a Las Vegas, Nevada boutique yo-yo string brand founded by Daniel Kessler. Specializing in custom hand-spun strings made to order, the brand built a following through its signature “faded” strings — two-toned polyester blends where two colors fade seamlessly across the strand’s length. Custom orders are available in any material, length, thickness, and color combination.
Kessler’s philosophy centers on the string as the primary interface between player and yo-yo, and 24K Whips positioned itself alongside contemporaries like Zipline Strings and A&A Yoyo Strings in the boutique micro-production string market. The brand distributed primarily through direct sales via BigCartel and built its community through Instagram and Facebook.
In 2018, Kessler collaborated with Rain City Skills to co-design the Retro Rocket, contributing concept direction and custom colorway-matched strings to the package. The Retro Rocket was released in early 2019 and is the only yo-yo hardware associated with the 24K Whips name.
