About the Dopamine
Released in September 2023, the Dopamine is Ross Levine’s signature yoyo and the flagship aluminum release from ilinx Toys (Hollywood Modern Yoyos). It continues the design lineage that began with the Recreational Revolution Freq. Wav and the OhYesYo × ilinx Freq.Mod collaboration, refining the shape into a smoother, swooping profile that shaves off a small amount of weight relative to earlier iterations while preserving or improving spin time.
The key mass feature sits just inward of the rim, concentrating power and gyroscopic stability for off-axis and horizontal play. The hub features a flat surface surrounded by a valley groove for finger spins and DNAs, plus a central dimple that allows fingernail pull-starts. The Dopamine is machined from 7075 aluminum and uses Hollywood Pads (19mm slim) for response. It was released through YoYoExpert, AllYoyo, and the modernyoyos.com storefront in Red, Yellow/Orange Fade, Clear, Blue, Blue/Green Fade, and Pink colorways. Price at launch was $59.99 USD.
