The Accel Origin is the inaugural product of Bandai’s fourth-generation Hyper Yo-Yo revival, released in Japan in July 2024 as the launch model of the Hyper Yo-Yo Accel line. The Accel System — patented in both Japan and the US — uses two large independently rotating “Accel Discs” on the sides of the yo-yo: by gripping the discs and pulling the string sharply, the player generates spin without throwing. This makes yo-yo play accessible to children who struggle with traditional throwing technique. The yo-yo uses three metal bearings in total. Six colorways were available at launch (Dragonic Red, Gaming Black, Heroic Blue, Hip-Hop Yellow, Cosmo Purple, Punkish Green), with additional colors released through late 2024.
