History
The Cross Bones was a competition-era modernization of the Bare Bones. While maintaining the machined character and adjustable O-ring weight system, it updated the axle system and added the distinctive cross-shaped crossbones stamp artwork on the side faces. The result was a wider, slightly heavier yo-yo with more refined rim geometry.
A 2007 US National Championship special edition — the X-Bones 2007USN — was produced with unique tournament artwork and limited distribution. In 2024, Beyond YoYos released the Bimetal Cross Bones as a tribute to Frank Difeo, incorporating a stainless steel weight ring into an updated version of the design.
