The Haymaker Beta was designed as an all-new monometal competition platform inspired by the community revival of monometal competition yo-yos in the early 2020s. Duncan recognized that bi-metal had dominated competition for years but that a new generation of players were returning to monometal for its more forgiving play feel and lower price. The Beta takes the Haymaker X’s principles — wide, aggressive, powerful — and reinterprets them in a single-material format. At 48 mm wide it is one of the widest mono-metals in Duncan’s lineup, making it unusually forgiving for complex string formations.
