The 2008 Texas State Yo-Yo Contest is believed to be the first edition organized by Travis Owen, who described 2010 as his “third time” running the contest. Neither the exact date nor the venue for the 2008 edition could be independently confirmed: a single source places the contest in the Dallas area, but the confirmed 2009 and 2010 editions were both held in Austin, TX (Jester Auditorium, University of Texas), casting doubt on the Dallas location for 2008. No division results survive in any public record for this year.
