EXPECTmake

EXPECTmake (企制®) is a Chinese yo-yo design studio founded by Renjie Lv, a former designer at Auldey — the large Chinese toy company behind a major line of professional-grade yo-yos. Lv launched EXPECTmake as an independent creative imprint focused on concept-driven, structurally ambitious design, operating as a design partner rather than a standalone manufacturer. All products are produced in collaboration with TOP YO under joint branding: “TOPYOnation® × 企制® (EXPECTmake).”

The brand’s debut, the Frozen (2021), established EXPECTmake’s signature approach: removing material from the aluminum sidebody in a hollow hexagram pattern and filling the cavity with a clear polycarbonate “string shield” — preserving the visual effect while protecting the string. The design was recognized as one of the most thoughtfully executed hollow-structure bimetals in modern yo-yo making and was limited to approximately 100 units at $149.99. The Frozen II (2024) evolved the concept with tri-material A6061+stainless steel+polycarbonate construction, per-colorway unique CNC milling patterns, and a recessed center for finger spins.

The Faceless (千面, 2024) shifted direction entirely — a modular polycarbonate design at $19.99 with interchangeable center pieces, broadening accessibility while retaining EXPECTmake’s design-forward identity. The brand operates without a public website, distributing exclusively through TOP YO’s retail network.
