I wrote an entire video for this yoyo. The script is fully done; I could’ve just posted it to the YYE forums as a review and gone next. The only reason I didn’t is that editing and recording are a miserable process for me right now and will probably only get more stressful going into the upcoming semester.
Anyways, onto the actual yoyo
The Kagerou ’24 is the penultimate form of the overhang rim trend that was EVERYWHERE in 2023-2024. The Kagerou that came out before it came out in 2021 caught a lot of momentum in the competitive scene after Remy used it for Nationals and Worlds, and generally speaking, the overall design caught on. I don’t think the original Kagerou was the first to use that overhang rim thing that was popular, but it was definitely one of the most popular iterations of that design ethos, maybe aside from the Klondike.
This is the new version of the Kagerou; it’s a bit wider. Lmao.
It plays really well. Ironically, in the two years since it came out, it’s a bit outdated, but it’s still good. Probably one of the best examples of a simple, good bimetal without any bells and whistles. It’s probably one of the most fussless yoyos ever. It feels fine-tuned to be well controlled and not restrict you in any other possible way. Doesn’t push you or condition you to play quickly, doesn’t lag much and drag you down. Highly capable. Rimweighted feeling is a bit forward. I’ve abused this yoyo since I bought it, lmao.
